Taunja Schroeder – Reading Interventionist, Pettus Elementary
I’m Taunja Schroeder, and I’m honored to serve as the Reading Interventionist at Pettus Elementary. As a proud graduate of Pettus ISD—where I attended from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1994—I have a strong personal connection to this community and school district.
After high school, I earned my degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and later completed my teaching certification through Teachers of Tomorrow. My passion lies in helping children grow into confident, capable readers.
In my role, I work closely with students both one-on-one and in small groups, providing focused reading support tailored to their individual needs. I deeply value collaboration and enjoy partnering with teachers and families to ensure every child receives the encouragement, instruction, and practice they need to succeed.
There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student’s eyes light up as they discover the joy of reading. I firmly believe that every child can become a reader—with the right support, patience, and consistent effort—and I strive to nurture not only strong reading skills, but a lifelong love of books.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, especially outdoors—walking, hiking, and, of course, reading. Daily devotionals are an important and uplifting part of my routine.
I feel truly blessed to be part of the Pettus Elementary family and look forward to another wonderful year of helping students grow as readers.
"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all."
